ROCK: Punk, ROCK: Rockabilly

Details:
From the Los Angeles Neighborhoods of Lincoln Heights and Cypress Park, Los Creepers come with a true expression of the energy that is alive in these neighborhoods. It''s a hard area to grow up in, and the music is a true reflection of that. Writing songs about what they see around themselves everyday, the stories told are those of friends and lovers, neighborhood violence, and the metropolis that is Los Angeles. Our songs are mostly about true to life experiences, so they are written with a heart and soul feel that is hard to come by in these times of plastic bands, producing typical sounding, cookie cutter punk rock and psychobilly acts. We strive to stay true to ourselves first; our music must be appreciated by every member of the band. That is our one requirement. Because of this, we are hard to categorize, and we see this as our individuality coming across LOUD and clear. We started in 1996, as a way to explore some of our favorite influences, the true great rockabilly sound. Loud and true to our influences, what we came up with was, to us, a newer, harder edged sound, infused with punk rock, surf music, the blues, rockabilly, and a touch of something we''d never heard before. Soon the rest of the Los Angeles Psychobilly scene started to develop in earnest, and we were off and running. Our original lineup was Alex Alvarez (Guitar and Vocals), Herman Ibarra (Drums), Alfred Montez (Bass), and Orlando "Lucky" Almader (Rhythm Guitar). Within our first year together, Alfred ran off to Arizona to pursue what he thought would be greener pastures. So Bass Player Chris Pacheco joined up, and "Creeper Stomp" was recorded on the Indie Label Limp Shrimp Records. This album shows what Los Creepers sounded like in the early stages, with Alex singing, and a more blues and rockabilly driven feel. After a couple of years, Alex switched to full time guitar, and Lucky started to sing. We instantly knew we had something special in those first few shows with this lineup. Also, Herman''s brother Frank joined the band to play bass, playing with the boys on their strenuous schedule. Frank can be heard on the bands sophomore effort "Punk Rock since 96" Released on Los Angeles'' own One Shot Records Label. One Shot works with some of the best independent punk bands in Los Angeles, with a Do it yourself attitude Los Creepers could appreciate. The Album is by far a faster; more punk rock driven collection than it''s predecessor, but is just as meaningful in it''s content. Today Los Creepers have returned to their original line-up, with Fred back on the bass, and the sound has never been better. Los Creepers are enjoying the fruits of their efforts, having gained the first call respect of promoters and clubs in need of a good show. The music is till energetic and powerful, and maintains it''s raw, heartfelt feel. Many years have passed, some of us have gotten married, had children, several major upheavals in family, personal, and social lives, but never lose sight of our mission to bring out our purest _expression in our music. It''s not about the game of fame, or the scene, it''s the feelings and trials behind the music that keeps us going. As long as we stay true to that, we will be Los Creepers.
