Details:
Fiorentino, a singer-songwriter who also plays guitar, harmonica, Indian Flute, and Mexican ocarina. As a genre defying maverick, Fiorentino’s CD “The Match” seems to span five continents in the space of one hour. This is a live recording of a solo concert in a 600 yr old adobe mission church in Santa Fe, New Mexico called the Santuario de Guadalupe - the oldest shrine to the Dark Goddess in the US. One reviewer likened the sound to "the bare bones feel of the Cowboy Junkies" stark recording. The CD was mastered by Michael Stearns - composer for the soundtrack to the wordless classic 70mm film "BARAKA". Stearns says "Laurianne does with words what I do with music."

Intense and playful, the lyrics have a literary quality similar to the poetic classics. Fiorentino uses space and silence as a partnership in her sonic pallette. As a live performer, her ten-plus years on the cabaret stages of New England assure concert-goers of a magically intense and humorous evening of music and patter. She has progressed from gigging in NM''s local music venues to touring two hemispheres of major festivals as a solo artist. Santa Fe’s multi-cultural environment seems to be the perfect crucible for Fiorentino’s special blend of musical and bardic musings. She has toured Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and parts of western Canada and eastern USA.

Fiorentino was nominated for Artist of the Year by the National Academy of Songwriters in Los Angeles and also was a semi-finalist in the Lilith Fair National Online Artist Search and a critics pick at the Toronto NXNE Music convention. She started her career with a tour with a chorus through the cathedrals of central Europe followed by more than a decade as a bassist/vocalist in rock and R&B bands. Her training and experience is evident in this recording.

Laurianne is ever expanding her musical adventures and will be releasing new recordings of instrumental and vocal music very soon. Until now, check this CD out and relish the variety and depth of a very special artist.

"Fiorentino has an un-orthodox voice that can go from a growl to a wail to a whisper. Her songs feature stunningly original lyrics, complex rhythms, honesty, and (surprisingly!) hilarity - almost all at once."
--(Memphis FolKrawl)

“…one of the best performers on the scene…”
--(The Lobby, Cork, Ireland)

"...a deep and old presence that reminds me of Leadbelly....more dynamics and power than some entire bands of talented musicians" and " most singer-songwriters need a band to fleshout the material - in this case, a band might hide the substance....unusual for a solo performer to be so gripping!"
--(Band Contest Judge)

Laurianne is "an artist unafraid to follow her instincts". Her bamboo flute playing "is spacious, very free while remaining true to the spirit of the Native traditions from which Fiorentino''s instrument originated."
--(Dirty Linen Roots & World Music Magazine)

Four tracks from her bamboo Indian Flute & cello CD, "Windhorse Rising, (with Michael Kott) were included in the soundtrack of the 2003 documentary film "Trail of the Painted Ponies", narrated by Ali MacGraw.
