"RADIANT"

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end."
--Jeremiah 29:11

L''Tanya Monnyeen Moore knows the importance of dancing through the ashes of life to experience the beauty of victory. Growing up the daughter of a prominent pastor in the AME Church, she experienced living under the scrutiny of being a “preacher’s kid”. However, with the support and guidance of her parents, she discovered her destiny and has become one of the most sought after choir directors, psalmist, praise and worship leaders, and workshop practitioners. L’Tanya’s life is a testimony of faithfulness, perseverance, and dedication to her God-given ministry of music.

Talented, gifted, and well educated L’Tanya understands the importance of being a good steward over her spiritual gifts. She completed her Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance and Literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she has appeared in operas, master classes, and recitals. A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Ms. Moore received a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree, with honors, from Morris Brown College. Her three greatest musical inspirations are Kathy Vande Berg, her high school music teacher who exposed her to various genres of music; Dr. Glynn E Halsey, her professor at Morris Brown College who allowed her to serve as his assistant and taught her choral technique, directing and colors; and Dr. Ollie Watts-Davis her voice professor at the University of Illinois-Champaign who is her “master teacher” and perfected her skills as a vocalists. According to L’Tanya, these educators not only nurtured her through the early stages of ministry, they also inspired her to share her love of music with other students at Clark-Atlanta University; where she served on the faculty as Adjunct Professor of Music in Voice in 2002.

Her concert credits include appearances with the Atlanta Philharmonic Black Symphony/Chorale; the Opera Workshop at Morris Brown College and the Atlanta University Center; Northern Illinois University; the Illinois Opera Theater; and Onyx Opera, Inc. Her operatic repertoire includes a myriad of leading and supporting roles such as Mercedes in Carmen; Madame Butterfly in Madame Butterfly; Arabella in Arabella; the Second Woman in Dido & Aeneas; Serena in Porgy and Bess; and La Maestra dell Novizie in Suor Angelica. She completed the world tour of the opera Porgy & Bess with Houston Grand Opera, touring Japan, Italy, and France. While in France, Ms. Moore played the role of the Strawberry Woman at Opera Bastille.

In the field of theater, L''Tanya performed in her fifth season of Black Nativity with Jomandi Productions Inc. She recently performed in the cast of Cotton Patch Gospel at the Rialto Theater with Theatrical Outfit Inc. of Atlanta. In 2003, L''Tanya performed in Pinocchio at the Seven Stages Theater. In the field of Jazz, L''Tanya performed the Sacred Music of Duke Ellington at the Cathedral of Saint Philip during their concert series. In 2004, she performed this same work with Orchestra Atlanta.

Her honors and awards include the University of Illinois Graduate College Fellowship; first place winner of the Georgia State National Association of Teachers Singing Competition and finalist at its Southeast Regional Competition. She also won first place at the Alpha Kappa Alpha SororityInc. Mary Shy Scott Fine Arts Award. She is a member of the America Guild of Musical Artists and Actor''s Equity Association.

L''Tanya currently serves as director of the McDonald’s Stellar Awards youth choir and was also director of the Chevrolet Stellar Award youth choir from 2001 to 2003. She is the Director of Music and Activities at Saint Philip A.M.E. Church where she has served under her father, the Reverend George Moore, for the past ten years. A noted teacher, Ms. Moore facilitates workshops in Vocal Pedagogy and Music Ministry Development. She is in constant demand as a praise and worship leader for conferences across the country.

Her most challenging accomplishment to date is the development of her first solo project “RADIANT” which débuted on June 30, 2006.

“I wake up singing; I go to bed singing, that’s all I do. When I was young that’s all I did. My parents encouraged it,” says L’Tanya of her love for music. “I never wanted to do a solo project. Honestly, I was fine serving in ministry. I told God if I was going to do this, He had to make everything possible. When I said that, doors started to open and I met the producer of the project, Trent Phillips, whom I worked with for a year prior to even discussing a cd project.”

Her solo project is an eclectic mix of spiritual songs that are birthed out of the hurt, pain, and disappointments that she has endured throughout the journey of life. It is L’Tanya’s desire that people will be encouraged and lives will be transformed through this project.

“I am rejoicing and loving God even more in the midst of all I go through,” explains L’Tanya. “I want this album to be an encouragement to others; to let them know that although we will cry and deal with the uncertainties of fulfilling this walk with Christ, we will make it and become all that God has called us to be. As we dance through the ashes of life, it draws us nearer to God. The ashes are the residue of the fire that God takes us through to purify us. Be encouraged, as His Word says, you will be tried in the fire. But rest assure, you will come out pure as gold; RADIANT.
