Laurie Larson''s second album Aquila continues to showcase her compelling songwriting and vocals. The demo version of Architect of Dreams appears on the debut Crossroads Cafe CD Sampler that also includes songs from Emmylou Harris, Buckethead and Mary Youngblood. That version of Architect of Dreams made her a 2002 MP3 Grammy Nominee, and it reached #25 on https://www.tradebit.com''s New Age chart. The 2006 version is even better! Other demo versions of the songs have charted on https://www.tradebit.com. as well, Child of the Wind reached #3 overall and On this Day climbed to #3 on the Americana chart. Her CD which featured some of these demos was the 4th highest selling folk CD on https://www.tradebit.com, just ahead of another 2002 MP3 Grammy Nominee, The Byrds Roger McGuinn and his Folk Den CDs. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Richie Furay, who founded Buffalo Springfield and Poco helped order the tracks on Aquila. "To me there was no question as I listened that that Child of the Wind should be the closer, other favorites include Center of Light and Soul Purpose. Good job, good musicians. I even detected a little (Eagles guitar work there)." - Richie Furay. "I have been involved with Classic Rock radio stations for nearly 20 years and the music, although great, is not changing. Recently I listened to a new release Aquila by Laurie Larson and was blown away, classic rock but it is new stuff. Like Neil Young said, ''Rock and Roll is here to stay'' and Laurie proves it with every cut from her album. Laurie was born May 4, 1967 in Kalispel, Montana. She went to high school in Custer, South Dakota, Littleton, Colorado and Los Lunas, New Mexico.
She has been on stage with Jefferson Airplane, Mick Fleetwood''s Zoo and members of Country Joe and the Fish. She has won awards for her bass playing in several jazz contests.
Her song Feather Dancer was a top video in Albuquerque, NM.
Laurie ran twice for the Arizona House of Representatives and has been a web designer for several candidates from Congressional Races to Governor.
Her art and photography is also available at the Work of Artists Gallery, Scottsdale, Arizona.
A former radio announcer and rock & roll music director for KKHG, KLSK, KESP, KAZL & KSLX,
Laurie has also worked in state and city government, education and for Kitt Peak National Observatory. Currently, she is the Operations Manager for two radio stations in Phoenix.
