Details:
Lamar C. Horne, a native of Wadesboro, North Carolina, began his singing career at a very young age with gospel quartet groups in his hometown.

Upon relocating to Washington, D. C., Lamar sang with various groups. While performing with one of those groups- The Christ Tones, Madame Edna Gallman Cooke invited Lamar to join her background vocal group – The Sons of Faith. There, he sang tenor, recording, and traveling throughout the United States for about three years.

As time passed, Lamar joined Julius Cheeks and The Four Knights where he continued to sing, record and travel throughout the United States. While with this group, “How Far is Heaven” is one of the many well-known tunes the group released during the four years Lamar was with them. The most notable experience was the week the group performed, nightly, at the Apollo Theatre in New York.

During the late sixties, Lamar joined Tommy Ellison and the Five Singing Stars. While there, he recorded “Lord, I Want You To Move” (the flip side of “Sailing”) under the HSE label. He remained with Tommy for about five years.

In 1973, Lamar moved to Florence, South Carolina, and founded The Gospel Serenadors. The group has released a number of recordings with such labels as Seventy-Seven Records, AIR, and Shurfine.

In January of 1996, Lamar had a debilitating stroke that affected the left side of his body. He spent four years recuperating. As time passed, his body became stronger as well as his resolve to praise God in song.

In March of 2000, Lamar released his first Compact Disc, “Lord, I Want You To Move”,under the PoChild label. The CD was a blessing to many who heard it as well as for Lamar. For God also moved on his behalf restoring his body and giving him the physical strength to, again, travel and sing God’s praises.

In 2004, “Gain This World”, was another blessing and was the second release under the PoChild label.

In March of 2006, “Sinner Man” (the current release), has been another blessing for Lamar C. Horne and The Gospel Serenadors.

Anyone would be blessed by the lyrics and musical renditions from each CD. The songs appeal to musical audiences from contemporary to southern gospel as well as the traditional,foot-stomping, praises in song.

The group has traveled widely along the east coast and has performed with many of those with whom Lamar traveled and and performed with in the past.
