Details:
The album The Judge Lester Maevis is a follow up to the 2004 release To Make The Wheel Rounder. Lester Maevis is located in the basement of an old house in Portland Oregon. The work itself took me over a year and a half to write and record. The focus of album was on crooks and criminals and how they get away. Late in 2004 my car got stolen and beat to hell. Because of some difficulties in fingerprinting he got to have all the fun and I got to pay for it!

So I took to my studio built in a bunker and emerged with The Judge Lester Maevis. An album recorded with lot of old vintage guitar amps. I went for a real screaming clean sound. Most of the songs are written in major keys for a happy but hard hitting CD. All parts on each track were painstakingly written and recorded by me, my old man and friend. In track 1, Building the Court, you can just hear that old Fender amp kickin out a rhythmic riff. In track 11, How Do The Guilty Get Away?, you get a real liquidy sound coming out of an old Magnatone. Jose on the other hand was recorded using an old J45 Gibson acoustic guitar.

I began playing the drums when I got a set for my second birthday. At the age of 18 I went into the military and came out with four years later with a bunch of songs under my belt. Now at the age of 33 I think I have emerged with my best work to date. The Judge Lester Maevis is a raw, hard hitting, and clean sounding work with an emphasis on short quick song writing.

I do hope you enjoy this album,

Lance Andrew Leonnig
