MP3 The Line - Muscles and Fancy Cars

Hailing from Boston, MA, The Line combines the perfection of the 3 minute pop song with a heavy edge and hints of noise, mixed together with “real” country music... or more simply, Rock and Roll.

9 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Roots Rock, ROCK: Americana

Details:
The Line formed in the summer of 2004 when guitarists Jeff Holleran and Rob Melchionna decided to put together a band that would combine the perfection of the 3 minute pop song with a heavy edge and hints of noise, mixed together with “real” country music... or more simply, a band that would play Rock and Roll Music. Together, along with promises (threats?) of fame, fortune, muscles, and fancy cars, they were able to convince bassist Andrew Price to join them in their quest for world domination. All they needed was a drummer. The three of them searched high and low, through the cities, suburbs, and rural areas of New England. They had almost given up hope (they had pretty high standards after all) when into their Allston rehearsal space stepped Josh Bloomer, drummer extraordinaire!

Even before Josh''s entry into the band, The Line had headed into The Space, their home studio, to begin work on what would eventually become Muscles and Fancy Cars. Recording took place in the fall of 2004 with Jamie Salsich playing drums on a few tracks. Josh took the permanent drum spot the next winter, and after a flurry of writing the band headed back into The Space the following spring and summer. Since completion of the CD, Andrew has left the band (and the east coast), and Jeff Dudziak is now playing bass with The Line.

Muscles and Fancy Cars is the perfect showcase for the Line''s music... from the country-tinged sound of "Cut the Line", to the straight ahead rock of "New Year''s Day", to the heavy drones in "Puddle", to the studio experimentation that became "Copsong", the guys in The Line seemlessly blend all of their influences into a sound that can only be considered... well... Rock and Roll.
